Blogging is the Gangrene of the Internet.

To many, blogging is a fun pass time, something they might do in order to keep touch with friends or family. They write about what they enjoy, or what they think their friends and family will enjoy.
These blogs, while certainly a source of entertaining cruelty to reclusive misanthropes like myself, are rarely worth noting.
To many more blogging is a diary you keep out in the open for anyone to read, and eventually remove as the feelings of angst and unease mount because people dared read your precious thoughts.
Again these blogs are hardly worth mentioning.
What is worth mentioning, though, is the sheer crushing volume of these things. I'd wager there are more blogs than any other kind of website, except perhaps porn sites. The amazing thing about this is no one says a goddamn thing in any of them. People hammer out word after word, sentence after agonizing sentence and no one ever comes to a conclusive thought on why this event is relevant or important in their lives. It's the internet's equivalent to white noise.
Trying to stop this benighted form of free speech is like trying to turn the tides, so I won't even attempt.
What I can do, though, is document what blogs do wrong. In particular, I can pick out the really, really offensively douche bag blogs. Then I can ridicule them endlessly in hopes that the person writing it will either cry and flee the internet "forever" or others will not follow the same path.
The existence of this blog at all pretty much says what you need to know about blogs: it's a blog about blogs. If that doesn't register as a clusterfuck in your head then there's something fucking the matter with you.
So join me, if you please, as we meander down the endless web that is the internet.
